Housekeeping

Good housekeeping promotes a healthy and safe living environment. Here's a few helpful tips to maintain a clean
houshold and living spaces:

Living Room:
Get rid of clutter, such as junk mail, etc.
Dust feekly.
Clean floors weekly.
Whisk upholstered furniture.
Vacuum carpet and clean stains.

Kitchen:
Put food away.
Throw out garbage.
Wash Dishes.
Wipe sink, stove, and counters.
Defrost refrigerator & clean with a mild detergent.
Sponge oven.
Wipe off fingerprints.
Clean under toaster and wipe counters everyday.
Clean stains immediately.
Sweep the floor.
Take out the trash & put it in the right place.

Bathroom:
Clean bathroom mirror.
Clean sink.
Clean tub after each use, and clean thoroughly once a week.
If you encounter mildew, use mildew remover.
Wash shower curtain in washing machine as necessary.
Sponge off toilet and use toilet bowl cleaner and brush.
Wipe off cabinet and clean inside once or twice a year.

Hallway & Other Rooms:
Spot clean around switches.
Clean window and window tracks at least twice a year.
Check lights: Replace bad bulbs, remove globe and wash.
Test smoke detector.
Dust & mop stairs.

Furnace:
For forced air system, replace filter at least once a year.
Make certain only cleaning equipment is stored in the furnace closet area.
Check for odors - if you smell gas call maintenance immediately.

Outside:
Pick up trash, pull weeds, cut grass, etc.
If in a walk-up unit, take turns with other tenants to clean up common hallways/stairwells.

Schedule and accomplish your housekeeping activity on a regular basis and it will be easy and simple to maintain.
