Scholarship Award Recipients

Andrea Coleman
Began her educational pursuits with a two-year degree in Childcare Development. She then moved onto a four-year institution, Carlowe College in Early Childhood Education where she is working on a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. A single mother, Ms. Coleman who will complete her education in 2006 has a 3.25 GPA.

Brandi Hart
is a fulltime student at Norfolk State University, she is an English major. She hopes to become a secondary education teacher teaching English. Ms. Hart hopes to further her education and eventually teaching on the college level.

Charlene Hill
is a student enrolled at the Community College of Allegheny County, she is pursuing a degree in Human Resources. Her future plans are to become the owner and director of a “quality’ childcare facility.

Marcy Linley
is a single mother with two children, Ms Linley is presently a student at Chatham College, she will graduate this year with a BS in Biology. Her future plans are to attend graduate school to become a Physician’s Assistant.

Joseph Pettus
will enter Carlowe College this fall as a freshman to pursue his dream of becoming a teacher. Mr. Pettus soon to graduate form Sto-Rox School District received the Dean’s Recognition Scholarship for academic achievement.

Rolanda Robertson
is currently enrolled at Community College of Allegheny County pursuing a degree in Child and Family Services. She is described by one of her professors ‘as a hard-worker and a conscientious student’. Ms. Robertson has a 3.5 GPA.

Trudy Toney
will graduate in the spring of 2006 from Community College of Allegheny County with a degree on nursing. Ms. Toney a single parent with two children hopes to find a position as a Registered Nurse. Her long-term goal is to purse a degree in Psychology or Social Work to work with victims of domestic abuse.

Iphillrenepi White
began her educational pursuits at Bidwell Training Center there she completed a course in Chemical Laboratory Technology. After an externship at PPG, she enrolled in Community College of Allegheny County where she is now. A mother of two sons, Ms. White hopes to have a career in thermo chemistry technology.

Homeownership Award Recipients

Erica Kinard
has lived in Hawkins Village, an ACHA public housing community, since 1998. She is an active participant in the Public Housing “Family Self-Sufficiency Program” and has saved over $600 in her escrow account. She was born and raised in Braddock and was in the first graduating class in the Woodland Hills School District. Ms. Kinard told ACHA staff that she wanted to purchase a home in the area and that she wanted to “invest in her community”. She has found a home in North Braddock and has a closing scheduled for June 30, 2004.

Kathleen Cassidy
just closed on her home in Swissvale this month. Kathleen lives there with her daughter. Kathleen works full time caring for the elderly.
