The ACHA has recently integrated a web cam system to its revitalization
and construction activities management. The HOPE VI Revitalization
of Ohioview Acres, McKees Rocks, PA, is the chosen project for the
new system. The camera is mounted on the rooftop of an adjacent 6-story
ACHA apartment building, Ohioview Tower. It will be used to monitor
construction progress and completion through the year of 2006. The
system will be used to create a historical record of digital video
and images based on views and schedules set in advance.
The new web
camera is a Canon model #VB-C10R, live pan/tilt/zoom controllable
camera to any location that has Internet access. The camera is equipped
with a high performance 16x zoom lens and provides a pan angle of
340 degrees (170 degrees each to the left and right) and a tilt
angle of 100 degrees (10 degrees up and 90 degrees down). The camera
system is accessible through a Javascript Viewer. The viewer gives
you full remote control of the camera's angle (pan and tilt) and
zoom magnification, allowing you to see far more than with a static
camera. Preset camera angles (camera head aim and zoom position)
are used to allow quick access from the viewer and image archives.
Up to 8 presets can be stored. The viewer also allows users to snap
digital pictures that can be saved, emailed, etc. The camera can
be viewed from any compatible Web browser without the need to download
or install any additional software.
