Allegheny County Housing Authority is proud to be recogized as a "High

of safe and affordable housing options, the ACHA provides numerous
services to our residents to help them achieve the goal of self-sufficiency
through safe and affordable housing.
ACHA's housing
is available to individuals and families including special provisions
for senior and physically challenged citizens. The ACHA manages
several thousand housing units in community settings, high rises
and scattered sites around the County. Additionally, many privately
owned housing units are provided through the Housing Choice Voucher
Program (Section 8).

Management & Operations Department:
Family
Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS)
Experienced Case Managers assist you in developing a 5-year plan
to gain greater economic and personal independency. Participationg
residents receive help in establishing an escrow account to plan
for the future including education and purchasing a new home or
car.

Working
Works!
Community based programming provided by local organizations in the
areas of job training and job search, GED preparation, intro to
computers, interviewing techniques, job retention, and life skills
training. Also available are Supportive Services Vouchers to help
with the cost of work related expenses, transportation, training
programs, education, books, lab fees, and other career related costs.

Attend homeownership classes in your community provided by a HUD
certified Counseling Agency to secure the tools necessary to purchase
a HOME! Classes that cover all aspects of the home purchase process
are compined with one-on-one counseling for more personalized services.
Persons completing the process receive a Certificate to Purchase
(must meet mortgage requirements to purchase).
