ACHA CORONAVIRUS / COVID-19 RESPONSE PLAN
The Allegheny County Housing Authority is monitoring the current viral outbreak known as the Novel Coronavirus or COVID- 19. This is a constantly changing situation nationwide. The Authority is cognizant of this crisis and has developed this Response Plan to minimize the impact of delivery of services to residents and participants of our housing programs. This plan outlines how the Authority will continue to provide services while being cautious and respectful of this serious health issue facing our communities. Our goal is to limit the exposure of the virus to our employees and residents and to prevent the further spread of the virus.
- Effective March 18, 2020 at 8:00 am, all ACHA Offices are closed to the public; this includes site management offices as well as the Authority's Central Office at 625 Stanwix Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Scheduled recertification or other appointment will be rescheduled to a later date. Your Section 8 counselor or site manager will contact you to discuss your specific situation on an as-needed basis. The Housing Authority pledges to work closely with all residents, especially those who have reduced hours of work or have lost their jobs. Evictions have been suspended.
- All inspections and maintenance repairs will be temporarily suspended while we develop the appropriate procedures and protocols to ensure the safety of our staff and residents. Emergency health and safety work orders will continue to be addressed. Any interior pre-scheduled inspections or repairs will be rescheduled to a later date. Inspections for new Housing Choice Voucher units will take place. The units must be vacant in order for an inspection to take place. ACHA staff will not enter if household members are present. Annual inspections are suspended.
- Community Centers /Gyms will be closed until further notice.
- Community events and/or group gatherings are cancelled until further notice. Food distributions will only occur outside of buildings and will be geared towards very small numbers.
- We encourage our residents and participants to conduct all business by phone, e-mail or regular mail. Updates will be posted on our website @www.achsng.com.
- Maintenance response will be done on a limited emergency basis only. Routine work orders will be done at a later date. Continue to call the Maintenance Number (1-888-304-2242) to report.
